Castelao, Fortaleza

Project design: Vigliecca (also designed Arena da Baixada, in Curitiba).

Estimated cost: R$ 300 million.
Capacity: 66,700 seats. This makes Castelao the 4th biggest Stadium of the World Cup, and the biggest one in the Northeast of Brazil; if FIFA wants to have a semi-final in a tropical city with sun and beaches, Fortaleza will be it.

Official name: Estadio Governador Placido Castelo.

Meaning of name: Castelao (in Portuguese, Castelão) means "Big Castle".
The name, however, comes from ex-Governor Placido Castelo, who had the initiative of building the Stadium.
