Arena da Baixada, Curitiba

Project design: Vigliecca Associados (same who projected Castelao, in Fortaleza).

Arena da Baixada is privately owned by Atletico Paranaense FC.

Estimated cost: R$ 138 million (about US$ 80 million).
Capacity: 41,375 seats (the smallest stadium of the World Cup).

Official name: Estadio Joaquim Americo Guimaraes.
Meaning of name: Baixada, in Portuguese, means "area of lower altitude". In Curitiba, downtown is at a higher altitude, and it goes only downhill towards the neighbourhoods, where Arena da Baixada is located.
