Edmilson was a surprise in the 2002 Cup. He started hesitantly, but gained confidence and ended the Cup as principal of the team. Edmílson scored one goal against Costa Rica, one of the most beautiful of the Brazilian campaign.
After the Cup, he went for a successful career in Europe. Edmilson played two seasons in Lyon, along Juninho and Cris, and two seasons in Spain, along Ronaldinho, being champion all the four years.
