Universities and intellectuals
The Times, from London, published its yearly list of the Top 200 Universities in the World. Only one Brazilian University, Universidade de São Paulo, appeared in the list, at position 195.
Foreign Policy released yesterday a list of Top 100 Public Intellectuals. Brazilian ex-President Fernando Henrique Cardoso had 556 votes, and was ranked #43. American linguist Noam Chomsky was #1, with 4,827 votes, and Italian writer Umberto Eco was #2, with 2,464 votes.
